Curiously Painted

Curiously Painted
an illustrated history of the St. John family polyptych at Lydiard Tregoze

by Brian Carne, 2006

‘Curiously Painted’ is about the St. John family polyptych, painted on its many folding panels, which dominates the chancel of Lydiard Tregoze Church. This beautifully and extensively illustrated book reflects Brian Carne’s deep knowledge of the history of the St. John family and its alliances dating back to Norman times, the background against which the polyptych was commissioned by Sir John St. John in the early 17th century.

“I am absolutely delighted with Curiously Painted – so much better than simply having the pdf version. Great illustrations and diagrams too.  Exceeds all my expectations.”
