Teaming up with Swindon Council to offer Tours and Tea at Lydiard House

Category: News women’s history

Often the most enjoyable way of viewing a historic country house is going on a tour and finding out about its hidden history and the stories of people who lived and worked there.  Members of the Friends of Lydiard Park have a wealth of knowledge and enthusiasm and we are ready to capture your imagination.

This Autumn and Winter we are teaming up with Lydiard House to offer four specially curated tours of Lydiard House followed by a delicious afternoon tea in the North wing provided by the new chefs at Lydiard Hotel and Conference Centre.

The Sunday afternoon tours are:

11th September: Lady Diana Beauclerk –  18th Century Artist and Female Icon. A tour led by author and historian Nicola Cornick

9th October: From Manor House to Stately Home – a tour exploring the architecture of Lydiard House with Conservation Architect Michael Gray

20th November: Ladies of Lydiard – a tour looking at Lydiard’s splendid collection of women’s portraits with local historian and author Frances Bevan

11th December: A Christmas Tour of Lydiard House with Debra Melsom whose family have been associated with Lydiard Park for 300 years
